IT has been some time since our last news column but RNLI Port of Liverpool branch members have been working hard collecting at supermarkets and you may have also seen us at Liverpool Central and Moorfields stations.
August’s Bank Holiday Monday saw crowds of visitors to Hoylake RNLI open day with glorious weather – the amount raised on the day was over £30,000.
The Port of Liverpool Branch had the usual bric-a-brac stalls and the much loved roll-dice game, where £1 gave you the chance to win a new Volkswagen Polo – sadly the car was not won on the day so let’s hope we have a winner next year. We would like to say a huge thank you to Wirral Volkswagen in Bromborough for supplying the car at very short notice – we look forward to working together at future events.
A Duck Race was held in September at Lakeside, Crosby and raised over £1,000 for the Sefton RNLI Lifeguards. Many thanks to all at Lakeside and to all who bought tickets. It was a brilliant event, and a larger race is now being planned for next year.
Our end of year Cabaret, on Friday, November 29, will be upon us soon so why not join us? Maybe it’s a work Christmas party or a birthday; whatever the occasion you are assured a great night. The event includes a three-course delicious supper, cabaret from Asa Murphy with Harmonee New, comedy from the lovely Pauline Daniels and you can also win some great prizes on the tombola, raffle and stand up bingo. All proceeds will go to Hoylake RNLI Lifeboat Station. Tickets cost £25 – please call 07900 150449 to order yours.
RNLI lifeboat volunteers and lifeguards have just had one of their busiest summers ever, devoting many hours to rescuing people who got into difficulty at sea and around the coast. Without your support for our fundraising, they wouldn’t be able to carry on their lifesaving work, so thank you all for the help you give our charity. We couldn’t do it without you!
