AN ADVENTUROUS Wirral mum has completed 13 charity challenges for 2013.
Earlier this year, Lisa Lumb pledged to undertake the task in 12 months or less in aid of Scotty's Little Soldiers, which supports children of parents killed while serving in the Armed Forces.
The Wirral News has been following her progress and now the mum-of-one has completed her final event – Sunday’s North West Triathlon in Nantwich.
Her impressive list of challenges includes assault courses, cross country runs, marathons, triathlons and trail runs.
The 45-year-old from West Kirby, said: “It such an incredible feeling to do my last challenge for the year.
“I started my quest in February by doing the Southport 10k, which seems a long way off now. The last few events have included the Keswick Great Trail Challenge, Yorkshire Wolds half marathon and Leeds xpress triathlon.
“I also did the Total Warrior Challenge – which is billed as the toughest 10k on Earth. I had to go through fire and electricity. It was by far the hardest running event I’ve entered and took me over two hours to complete. I was physically and mentally exhausted.
“Another arduous challenge was the Hog Ride. I had to cycle 50 miles across the Snake Pass and climb 5,500ft up the winding roads.
“I have battled against the wind and rain at times but always finished feeling elated.
“I’ve had the time of my life this year – I’ve ran through mud and freezing cold rivers, climbed over electric fences and walls, crawled through tunnels and ice baths – but I’ve enjoyed every minute of it all.
“I have managed to beat my personal best in three of the challenges.”
Lisa has so far raised £780 of her £1,000 target.
She added: “I would say a big thank you to my family for supporting me by getting up early and giving their weekends up. They have been there to encourage me through each of the challenges.”
Although Lisa’s has finished her 13 challenges, she has signed up to compete in the Wirral half marathon in October and the Hell Up North event in Delamere Forest in November.
