A WIRRAL businesswoman has learnt the equivalent of “dog whispering” to calm down her four-legged clients when they visit her grooming salon.
Wendy Walker-Palin has mastered a revolutionary technique which, she says, helps dogs to cope with the fear of a trip to a grooming salon.
The technique, called Tellington TTouch, involves using massage, stroking ears, and body wraps to help induce calm in dogs, as well as lowering heart rate and respiration.
Wendy’s salon in Bebington, Trendy Pooches, is an holistic dog groomers.
She said: “Dogs aren’t always treated with the respect they deserve. I wanted to run my new dog grooming business in a different way, putting the welfare of the dog first.”
Wendy previously worked in business management, but wanted a career change and to work with animals.
She added: “I always wanted to work for myself and with dogs, now seemed like the perfect time.
“I had been saving to get married but decided to use the money to launch my business venture instead.
“I haven’t looked back as I’ve been so busy, it is really exciting.”
Wendy received support from female enterprise agency The Women’s Organisation.
