A WIRRAL man is eyeing up an award after being shortlisted for Spectacle Wearer of the Year.
Thomas Almond, 32, from Birkenhead, was chosen from hundreds of entries from across the North West and crowned regional finalist and put forward to the next round.
If Thomas wins the national title, he will win a luxury two-week holiday in St Lucia.
The award is known as the Oscars of the glasses world and celebrates people who wear glasses.
There are four age categories – 15-24, 25-39, 40-59 and 60plus – and the awards was launched by Spice Girl Melanie C earlier this year.
If Thomas triumphs in his age category, he will be able to meet Melanie at the awards ceremony.
This will be held at Royal Opera House, in London, on September 10.
All age category winners will win a VIP makeover, with one overall winner taking home the ultimate accolade in specs wearing.
Runner-up prizes include weekend trips to Paris and London with spending money.
