A VARIETY of festivals were hosted by venues across the Wirral over the Bank Holiday weekend in aid of Claire House Children’s Hospice.
Staff from the West Kirby-based bar, Rock Lobster, volunteered their time to host “Thirstival” for their regulars on Monday, showing festival highlights throughout the day. The Johnny Pye pub, in Heswall, treated their patrons to a choice of over 20 ales during their Beer Festival throughout the weekend. The New Brighton music festival, Fort Perch Rocks, adopted Claire House as their nominated charity and invited volunteers from the hospice along for a collection and families enjoyed live music and a BBQ during “Glastonferry” at The Eastham Ferry Hotel.
Stephanie Clark, Wirral Area Fundraiser at Claire House, said: “Without individuals choosing to fundraise for Claire House through these kind of events, the hospice would simply not be able to operate.”
Claire House provides respite, end of life and bereavement support to children and young adults with complex medical conditions and their families. With a fundraising target of £2.7m and limited government funding, the hospice relies on voluntary donations.
