ROMANCE will be in the air when a Wirral drama group showcase their next production.
Theatre company RAWD, based in Birkenhead, will be taking theatre-goers on a journey of romance with their performance called How To Fall In Love.
People with learning disabilities are the stars of the show, and the hour-long play uses ‘promenade theatre’ to take the audience on an adventure.
Tim Jeeves, who developed the show, said: “The idea is that audience members are paired with someone they don’t know, and they embark on a ‘date’ stopping at various locations along the way.
“I’ve done the project before on the streets of Brighton, but never with a disability group.”
Producer and founder of RAWD, Graham Hicks added: “The group are great performers. To see them develop from week to week is a massive inspiration.”
The show is for adults only, and began yesterday (Tuesday, August 6) with another show tonight (Wednesday) at the Unity Theatre in Liverpool.
Performances start at 7pm, beginning every 20 minutes and lasting for one hour. The last performance is at 8.40pm.
Tickets cost £9 and £7 concessions. Contact Unity box office on 0844 873 2888 to book a time-slot.
RAWD meet every Wednesday from 6.30-9pm at the University Academy Birkenhead on Park Road South.
The group aims to get disabled people involved in the arts to raise confidence, self-esteem, and provide a lifeline to socialise.
