AN apprentice electrician with Wirral Partnership Homes has won the Best Apprentice/ New Starter under 25 category of the Women in Construction Awards 2013.
Lisa Hilton, from Wallasey, now in her second year, also visits local schools and job fairs in her spare time to help encourage other school leavers and young women to follow similar apprenticeships.
Lisa triumphed against a shortlist of five other worthy candidates from across the UK.
She said: “I really didn’t expect to win but I feel really proud of my achievement in winning this award, particularly against such stiff competition”.
Geoff Muise, Operational Director for WPH added: “Lisa’s commitment and drive is exemplary and she’s a shining example to her peers and tutors and a positive role model for other young women. We are rightly proud of her achievements”
