Big charity auction for vital cause

A UNIQUE charity auction is to be held in aid of Wirral Autistic Society's recently launched Lifetime Appeal.

The event at the Queen's Royal Hotel, New Brighton will be fronted by TV auctioneer John Crane.

Items 'that money can't buy' like a booze-up in a brewery and a walk-on part in a musical play at Liverpool's Royal Court Theatre will be up for grabs alongside an antique grandfather clock, a holiday in a luxury Turkish resort and many more.

All the money raised will go towards the Wirral Autistic Society's appeal to totally renovate their residential facilities at Raby Hall.

The appeal has received its first major private donation of £7,500 from owner of the Queen's, Mike Rice.

The evening auction on Friday March 15 will also include live entertainment from Jimmy Rae and John Jones. John Crane, from Heswall who runs Cato Crane Auctioneers in Liverpool and fellow auctioneers from Kinglsey Auctions, Hoylake and the Wirral Auction Centre, Birkenhead will be available from 5.30pm to give free valuations on any items of interest.

The Queen's adopted the Autistic Society more than a year ago and have helped raise thousands of pounds. Mr Rice said: “We have lined up some really interesting items to auction and we expect the free valuations to be very popular. It should be a great fun night with food, including our ever-popular scouse, available and entertainment going on after the auction.”

Entry is free of charge with all the proceeds from the auction going direct to the charity.
