Star Wars fans to gather at Spaceport in Wallasey

STAR Wars fans from across the region will gather at Spaceport in Wallasey for a sci-fi themed weekend on March 9 and 10.

Organised in conjunction with Star Wars re-enactment groups The 99th Garrison and Mint Imperials, the weekend will offer enthusiasts the chance to see a range of prop replicas and memorabilia from the Star Wars universe, including a Death Star display.

Visitors will also be able to attend a sci-fi workshop and mingle with over 20 costumed characters including Darth Vader, Storm Troopers, Jedi, and Boba Fett while exploring Spaceport’s interactive, hands-on exhibits.

Cllr Liam Robinson, chairman of Merseytravel, said: “This is the fourth time we have hosted a Star Wars weekend at Spaceport and the popularity grows with each event.

“There is a huge appetite for Star Wars, the characters and the gadgets, with people of all ages taking a real interest. “

Paul Truesdale, 99th Garrison membership officer, said: “With members from all over the country including Merseyside, Lancashire, the Midlands and the North East, the Spaceport event offers our members a great opportunity to meet and indulge in our passion for science fiction, to enjoy ourselves, make people smile and help charities.

“This is one of our biggest events of the year for us and I would invite anyone interested in Star Wars to come along and enjoy the day.”

Usual Spaceport admission prices apply. You can buy your ticket in advance and enjoy a free Mersey Ferry trip.
