A TRANMERE woman marked her 100th birthday with a visit from the Mayor and Mayoress of Wirral.
Nina Fletcher celebrated the special occasion at Wirral Society of the Blind and Partially Sighted’s Ashville Lodge in Birkenhead.
Mrs Fletcher was married to Samuel for 38 years and the couple had three daughters and a son.
She has attended social clubs at the society for the past 22 years.
Betty Robinson, one of the founder members of the society, said: “Nina is a remarkable lady, a true matriarch of the society, a real character and a fountain of knowledge.”
Mrs Fletcher was presented with flowers and a card from Mayor of Wirral Councillor Gerry Ellis and Mayoress Margaret Ellis.
She also received a birthday greeting from the Queen.
Lynne Sedgwick, development officer at Wirral Society for the Blind and Partially Sighted, said: “It’s lovely to have a living piece of local history among us. Nina is always around to correct us on the facts of past local life!”
