VINTAGE vehicles will take centre stage in the fifth Birkenhead Park Festival of Transport this weekend.
The free festival on Saturday and Sunday will see the return of old favourites including the Blaenau Festiniog Mountain Railway.
This year an extra passenger-carrying carriage from the railway will take passengers along 300 yards of specially laid track.
There will also be traction and steam engines and military vehicles while enthusiasts will show off their own car, motorcycle or commercial vehicles.
The annual event is organised by Birkenhead Lions Club with support from other Lions clubs in the borough.
Event chairman Ken Fretwell said: “The show is much bigger this year and we have some cut-out cockpits and an extra three steam traction engines.
“We’ve also got a 1907 Paterson car which is a beautiful vintage vehicle.”
Last year the event drew 30,000 visitors to Birkenhead Park.
There is no admission charge but organisers are asking visitors to consider making a small donation.
