Historian donates copies of latest book to Wirral libraries

AN HISTORIAN has donated copies of his latest book to Wirral’s libraries.

Neil Holmes published Merseyside Blitzed: 70 Years On in June, following his Liverpool Blitzed book that came out in 2011.

He has given six free copies of the book to the borough’s libraries to say thank you for the invaluable help and assistance with his research.

Staff at Birkenhead and Wallasey Reference Libraries helped by retrieving images from their collections and allowed Neil to photograph the snapshots for the publication.

Neil, who was born on Wirral, said: “The staff were a huge help in researching Merseyside Blitzed.”

The book can be borrowed from Birkenhead, Wallasey, Bebington, West Kirby and Upton libraries. Birkenhead Reference Library will also keep a copy.
