A CHARITY shop in Wirral has closed its doors after it was no longer financially viable.
The Oxfam shop on Oxton Road, Birkenhead has been hit by the tough economic climate and closed on May 19.
Oxfam had been trading there for more than 20 years, and at different Birkenhead occasions for over 30 years.
Oxfam’s shop area manager David Jones said: “In the current economic climate, trading is very tough. As a charity, we have a duty to run our shops in the most efficient way.
“Unfortunately Bir- kenhead wasn’t cost-effective anymore and we had to make this tough decision.
“In the last 15 years the shop has successfully raised over £350,000.’’
Donations can still made to shops in Wallasey, West Kirby. Heswall and New Ferry.
