The Boot in Liscard is the place to go for music lovers

MUSIC lovers are in for a treat when they visit a renowned gig venue.

It is always good when you can rely on a variety of great tunes from live bands.

The Boot in Liscard is no exception as it has established a top reputation for hosting quality music.

And its diary is always full of musical events so visitors will never be disappointed.

On Thursdays, Marc Kenny hosts an open mic night from 9pm. The popular musician also performs a live acoustic set every Sunday from 6-9pm.

For those who fancy something more rock orientated there are band nights on the first and last Friday of every month, showcasing the best local acts such as Tequila who pulled in a great crowd last Friday.

Regulars Sugarshed, are playing their monthly gig this Friday. Following hot on their heels are Fire who will be playing for the first time at the Wallasey Road venue on March 9.

Manager of The Boot, Tim Herring said: “Sugarshed never fails to bring in their following of loyal supporters to see their energetic indie-rock covers set.

“Fire is a four-piece band establishing themselves in the local scene with performances at other big music venues in the area.

“There are also performances over the coming months from Madison, Lemon Echo and a return for Tequila.”

The venue hots up at the end of March with a battle of the bands style competition called ‘Battle of The Boot’.

Sponsored by Corona, it has £500 cash first prize along with a paid gig at the Boot. There are also weekly and runner-up prizes.

Any bands interested can still sign up but be quick as there are limited spaces left.

Tim added: “The big cash prize is a great motivator for the bands, but the paid gig is a great way to get in the door in a very competitive local music scene. Bands find it very difficult to secure work in new venues with so many good established acts taking most of the dates. It’s a such a big opportunity for bands to showcase with the promise of future work.”
