Man still critical after street attack

A MAN is still in a critical condition after being punched outside a shop in Rock Ferry.

George Craddock, 42, was punched to the ground last Monday night at the junction of Old Chester Road and Tudor Road.

The attack was said to have happened after a row with a group of youths.

A 22-year-old man has been charged with grievous bodily harm and appeared at Birkenhead magistrates court last week and is due to reappear before magistrates at a later date for a committal hearing.

Christopher Marc Hughes, 22, of no fixed abode, is accused of punching George Craddock to the ground in the attack.

A boy and girl, both aged 13, from Rock Ferry, and a 13-year-old boy from Birkenhead were arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit grievous bodily harm last Tuesday.

An 18-year-old man from Tranmere was also arrested and questioned on suspicion of wounding. All four were bailed pending further inquiries.

Mr Craddock is said to be in a critical condition with serious head injuries.
