Man accused of murder appears in court

A MAN accused of stabbing to death a Wirral dad-of-four appeared at Liverpool Crown Court.

Steven Branscombe, 42, of Boswell Street, Birkenhead, appeared via videolink from HMP Liverpool.

He is charged with murdering Marc Clarke, 42, in Bebington last month.

Mr Clarke was attacked outside a row of shops on Teehey Lane. The next hearing is on April 23, with a possible July 9 trial.

Hundreds of people left tributes to Mr Clarke after his death.

Flowers were left at the murder scene and a Facebook tribute site was set up. The Tranmere Rovers fan’s wife Louise Wright- Clarke posted a message saying: “My sweet gentle giant, I cannot bear to think of the future ahead, all our dreams, our cubs without a father.

“ I will never love another, my days will be to bring our babies up in the love you gave to me and honour your love and memory.’’
