Three flashers strike in separate incidents in Wirral

THREE flashers have struck in separate incidents across Wirral.

The men each indecently exposed themselves to young girls.

The first incident took place when a woman and her 15-year-old daughter were walking along Ingleborough Road, Prenton, to go to a family friend’s house on January 2 at around 3pm.

They saw a man at the junction of Malvern Grove and, as they got closer, realised he was indecently exposing himself to them.

The man, who was in his 50s or 60s and had grey hair and glasses, then turned his back on them and walked off down Malvern Grove. The victims called the police when they reached their friend’s house in nearby Westbank Road.

Police believe the offender may have left in a black or dark-coloured Ford estate with distinctive silver roof bars.

The two other incidents happened in Wallasey and Bidston.

An eight-year-old girl was returning home after playing with friends at around 4pm on January 6 when she was confronted by a man getting out of a white van in Wallsingham Road, Wallasey.

She walked away and her parents contacted police.

In the third incident, a man indecently exposed himself to a 15-year-old schoolgirl as she walked through an alleyway opposite St Oswald’s Church, in Bidston Village Road, at 4.20pm on January 10.

The offender, who wore paint-covered clothes, was in his 20s and had dark hair, shouted after her, asking for the time. A 28-year-old man has since been arrested.

Detective Inspector Anne Rannard, of Birkenhead CID, is leading an investigation into all three incidents and stressed they not being linked.

She said: “The incident in Ingleborough Road on bank holiday Monday was clearly very disturbing and unpleasant for the woman and her teenage daughter.

“They were simply on their way to visit a friend when this man deliberately exposed himself to them.

“They did exactly the right thing in getting a good description of him and reporting his behaviour.

“We are currently investigating several incidents of indecent exposure and suspicious behaviour in the past few weeks but due to varying descriptions of the offenders and the locations, we do not have any evidence to suggest they are all linked.

“I can assure people we treat all reports like this extremely seriously.

“Although no-one was physically hurt, we are not complacent and understand people may be worried.

“We have worked closely with schools to make sure pupils know to walk home with their friends and to report anything suspicious to their teachers or parents.”
