A MEETING takes place in Hoylake next week to discuss why buying locally produced food matters.
Called “Food Miles”, the discussion will centre on why it makes sense to both grow and buy as much food as we can locally.
It has been organised by Incredible Edible Hoylake, the “urban guerilla gardeners” who grow vegetables on street plots scattered throughout the West Wirral town that people can pick for free all year round.
The talk, being given by Margaret Campbell of Transition Town West Kirby, takes place on Monday, January 16, at 7pm in Melrose Hall, Melrose Road.
Afterwards there will be the opportunity to buy locally made jams and chutneys, sold in aid of Hoylake Allotment Association, some home baking sold in aid of Melrose Hall, and also buy some locally produced honey.
