HOYLAKE Lifeboat station had a tall order to make its annual August Bank Holiday RNLI fundraising open day a success.
The Red Arrows were grounded after the tragic death of one of its pilots earlier this month and visitors had to brave torrential rain and strong winds to make the most of the attractions.
But crowds did turn out and were treated to aerial displays by three different planes, including a World War II Spitfire, as well as stalls and a fair.
