New Brighton’s Dome of Home could be completely reopened following interest from a Florence-based Catholic order.
Ss Peter and Paul was closed in 2008 by the Diocese of Shrewsbury but a side chapel was recently reopened following a local campaign.
Now a Roman Catholic institute called Christ the King Sovereign Priest has expressed a desire to repair and reopen the grade II-listed chapel.
The group has experience in reopening churches and founder Monsignor Gilles Wach will pay a visit to the famous landmark after Easter for talks with the Bishop of Shrewsbury, the Right Reverend Mark Davies.
Canon William Hudson, a spokesman for the institute said that with the help of Bishop Davies, they are confident a solution can be found.
He said: “It is a very serious proposition and we are sure the faithful will be just as generous as when the church was built.”
