WIRRAL-based artist Jacqui Chapman returns to Artroom Gallery after a sell-out exhibition during last year’s Biennial independents strand.
The Parkgate space will be showing the Wirral Met trained painter, alongside other contemporary fine artists as part of its Rising Stars exhibition.
Artroom Gallery’s Mich-elle Linger told Wirral Arts: “Jacqui’s work was a sell-out last year and our clients were all delighted with their purchases.
“Her works take on their own identity on wallspaces.”
Passionately rendered, Jacqui usually produces large canvases that can take as long as three months to complete.
But she has also produced a series of smaller pieces for her latest collection.
Displayed under the title Coast, the landscapes deal with the concepts of time and space, identity and displacement.
The movement of water created by the collision of elemental forces of land and sea provide much of the subject matter for her new works, which explode with lyrical energy.
Michelle said: “Her pal-ette seems to have completely changed.
‘‘There are lots of greens and blues and she seems to be experimenting with colours more now.”
Jacqui is joined by Charles Borrell, whose background in Greece is an inspiration.
The entire exhibition is built around the notion of memory, providing a perfect outlet for Charles who does not sketch or take photos, preferring to paint using his mind’s eye.
Chester artist Chloe Holt’s work is informed by travel, religion and symbolism.
Ssculptor, Caroline Stanley completes the line up. Working in bronze, her pieces are hugely influenced by the death of her sister, last year and her recent engagement.
