THE controversial Sail project in West Kirby faces further scrutiny by councillors.
The developers were given approval by Wirral Council’s cabinet last month to press ahead with the scheme, which would see a new hotel and sailing school built on the edge of the marine lake.
But Conservative councillors have now called that decision in.
It will be considered by the economy and regeneration overview committee, which is due to meet on Tuesday, October 27.
The call-in calls for “independently conducted consultation”.
The scheme was halted earlier this year when the authority said it wanted to work with Carpenters, the developers behind the project, before making a final decision.
Late last year, the hotel element of the scheme, which also includes a new sailing school, was dramatically reduced in size.
The scheme was originally going to cost £10m and included an 80-bed boutique hotelbut the hotel was scaled back to 45 rooms.
