I MUST express my sincere congratulations to the staff of Wirral libraries, who have been given the news they have waited so anxiously for and the decision that they all so richly deserve. We must ensure that the fact we emphasised in our fight – Use it or Lose it – never becomes a threat again.Read

As with the original decision to close the libraries, I was not consulted by the council ahead of this volte face. Naturally, I am pleased that my local libraries are safe in the short term but need to find out more about the consequences of what is proposed, the reasons for the change of heart, the budgetary implications and the long term future of facilities.
