“There will also be no use of it at 10am to 12pm on a Sunday, but obviously that was less likely anyway.
“We checked with the police and they had no objections. There were no representations from any of the authorities. The Ravenscroft was happy to accept that solution – they have been keen to avoid people smoking at the front of the building.”
A spokesman for the Heswall Congregation said: “We are perfectly happy. We always wanted to be reasonable, but were concerned about noise encroachment.
“We have a good relationship with the manager and if there are any problems, we can see him.”
Bobby Abelwhite, manager of the Ravenscroft, which is named after DJ John Peel’s real surname, said: “We have no problem keeping the outside area closed during a service – it is a matter of respect.
“The amount of people we would have there at that time is minimal.”
