A WIRRAL pub will be allowed to serve food and drink outdoors after striking a deal with a neighbouring group of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
Members of the Heswall Congregation raised concerns with Wirral Council after the Ravenscroft applied to extend its licence to an outside area.
The pub is situated immediately behind the congregation’s Kingdom Hall, in The Mount.
They were concerned noise from drinkers outside would interrupt their “peaceful enjoyment of worship”.
But all parties left a meeting of the council’s licensing committee last week satisfied, after the pub was told it could serve outside – but not during services.
Committee member Cllr Harry Smith said: “We did allow the request, but restricted it to not coincide with the activity in Kingdom Hall, which finishes at 9pm on a Thursday.
