A TROUBLED nightclub on the verge of losing its licence after a spate of violent incidents has turned itself around.
Owners of The Bam- Buddha Lounge, in Conway Street, Birkenhead, have “bent over backwards to improve their business” according to Wirral Council licensing chief Cllr Harry Smith.
After a police dossier outlined a surge in serious incidents, including someone biting into another person’s ear and other serious offences, the club’s licence came under review.
Since that time, around three months ago, club owners have spent £7,000 to improve security.
They installed 22 CCTV cameras which cover the premises, including parts of the toilets, and introduced a two-way radio system.
Licensing Sergeant Dave Peers said: “They have taken very seriously the concerns of the police and taken steps that are having the required effect.”
The club can continue to open until 4am, and must stick to imposed licensing conditions, which outline what they are doing already.
