A SOLDIER is planning to run 56 miles to raise money for his mum and sister who have breast cancer.
Matthew Bragg was devastated when he found out his sister Stacey, 39, was diagnosed with the illness in August 2007 and his grief was made worse when his mother Bernie, 59, of New Brighton, also found out she had cancer.
The 29-year-old, who has served in Iraq and Afghanistan, will run a 56-mile ultra marathon Extreme Running Event from London to Brighton on September 20.
All money raised will go towards Cancer Research.
His mother Bernie has decided she wants to help Matthew raise a target of £5,000 towards the charity, which she believes has kept her daughter, a mother of three, alive.
She said: “You don’t realise the pain cancer causes until you’re in it and you never think it will happen to you.
“That’s why I think it’s important to help Cancer Research because cancer could so easily come into your life.
