A WIRRAL primary school hosted an environmental challenge to mark Climate Week in the borough.
Greenleas Primary School, in Wallasey, welcomed nine other Wirral primary schools to take part in their Climate Week Challenge, called “Green Your Space”, which invited entrants to improve a place they knew by making it better for the environment.
The challenge was won by St Andrew’s Primary School, Bebington.
Thousands of people from schools, youth clubs and workplaces across the country take part in Climate Week every year, which draws attention to the effects of climate change on our environment.
Kevin Steele, chief executive at Climate Week, said: “The Climate Week Challenge enables young people to develop their skills of innovation and team-working to help combat climate change, which is one of the most important issues they will need to address as the emerging generation.”
Climate Week kicked off on Monday, March 12. The national event saw half a million people attending 3,000 events run by charities, schools, businesses and councils across the country.
