Wallasey MP Angela Eagle congratulates trio on winning full-time work

WALLASEY MP Angela Eagle met three beneficiaries of the government’s Future Jobs Fund last Wednesday.

The Department for Works and Pensions Minister was visiting a jobs fair at Liverpool’s BT Convention Centre when she was introduced to Debbie O’Connor, Andrew McCombe and Philip Burchardt, who were all taken on at Forum Housing, as part of the initiative.

All three were employed with Forum through the £1billion Future Jobs Fund initiative, which forms part of the government’s Backing Young Britain campaign.

After much hard work,. the housing association has now decided to employ Debbie, Andrew and Philip on a full-time basis.

As part of the MP’s visit to the fair, she spoke with each of the new recruits, and congratulated them on their success in winning full-time work.

Debbie O’Connor, now business support assistant with Forum, was told by Ms Eagle, “the first steps are the hardest”.

Angela Eagle MP said: “We have invested £1billion on the Future Jobs Fund, not only to provide job opportunities, but also help young people learn new skills that will assist them for the rest of their working lives.

“I have enjoyed meeting the recruits from Forum Housing Association to see how the investment is working.

“We are determined to give young people the help and support they need so their talent isn’t wasted and they can have confidence in their futures.”

Debbie O’Connor added: “I had a fantastic morning and feel so privileged to be given the opportunity to prove my worth to society again.”
