Pupils help pick construction firm to build new Park Primary School in Wallasey

PUPILS helped pick a construction firm to build their new school.

Liverpool-based Morgan Ashurst has been awarded the £4.3m contract to build a two-storey Park Primary School on the site of the old building on Love Lane.

Members of the school council interviewed all the companies shortlisted for the project.

One of the most important criteria was the environment – the building will showcase a range of eco-friendly features, including a biomass boiler.

It will also have a rainwater harvesting system, where collected water is used to flush lavatories.

A pond with a landscaped boardwalk area will double up as a learning resource.

The building has been designed by Wirral Council’s in-house design team.

Headteacher Hilary Ryan said: “The children are so excited about learning in the new school.
