Body found in River Mersey near Wallasey

A MAN’S body was found in the River Mersey.

Police received a report of a body spotted in the river near Riverview Road, Wallasey, just after 10am on Thursday.

Police and a lifeboat attended the scene and recovered the body of a man, believed to be in his 50s, from the water.

He has not yet been formally identified.

A police spokesman said: “The death is being treated as unexplained.”
