A WIRRAL gym club is jumping for joy after being given £50,000.
The money was given to Wallasey Gym Club by specialist waste management firm Biffa.
The cash will be spent on the club’s project of rebuilding and refurbishing their sports hall on Buccleuch Street in Birkenhead.
The club is managing the sports hall after acquiring it through Wirral Council’s Community Asset Transfer Team.
The hall is not yet ready to move into but organisers are hoping once they are up and running in their new premises, more people will benefit from their services.
A club official said: “The club is so grateful for the support we have received from Wirral Council and Biffa for their generosity, time and advice in assisting to make this project one of the largest gymnastic facilities in the north.
“This award will make a significant difference to the development of all our young gymnasts, including our disability classes and will definitely allow for more young people from the community to join and experience grass roots gymnastics and other associated sports.”
Gillian French, the Biffaward programme manager, said: “We are delighted to support this project.’’
