New Brighton cyclist to ride length of Wales to raise cash for Hounds For Heroes

A WIRRAL cyclist will ride the length of Wales to mark his birthday and raise money for a soldiers’ charity.

Karl Bunnell will celebrate his 28th birthday on January 23 with a challenge, as he does each year.

This time he will raise money for Hounds For Heroes – a charity providing specially trained dogs to help injured and disabled soldiers.

Karl will cycle 150 miles over three days from New Brighton to Newport, in south Wales.

He sets off on January 25 and will ride a Carrera Vengeance Hybrid bike.

Karl is training by cycling to work in Little Neston and back home, which is 15 miles each way.

Karl told the News: “I took up cycling last year after a 15-year gap and it quickly become my favourite hobby.

“I am healthier, fitter and more active as a result and have even saved a small fortune travelling to work.

“I spent the New Year in Hong Kong and hiked up two mountains.

“I chose the route because I have a lot of great friends in south Wales.”
