A BUDDING film director has won a competition to have his short film about street violence played at the cinema.
Joseph Oliveira, of Wallasey, entered the contest run by Merseyside Police to dramatise their One Punch Can Kill campaign.
The 21-year-old won the Young Liverpool Film Night at FACT in 2007 with his debut film Pinnacle Man.
Joseph stars alongside friends and family in the two-minute film which he also directed, produced and edited.
They joined Joseph for a private screening at the Odeon cinema on Monday. For the rest of the week the short will be shown ahead of adverts for all films.
He said: “Seeing my work on the big screen felt amazing and it has inspired me to keep working towards bigger projects.”
Chief Superintendent Jon Ward said: “We’re trying to get the message out there a split second decision can destroy lives and that ultimately one punch can kill.”
