Wallasey youngster Chelsea Edwards’ life transformed by Alder hey drug trial

CHELSEA Edward’s life has been transformed since she started to take Tocilizumab.

The Wallasey 11-year-old was left in unbearable pain after her diagnosis at the age of six.

But two years ago the Weatherhead High School pupil was put on the drug trial at Alder Hey.

Mum Jenny Wood, 29, said: “It has made such a difference.

“All the other drugs either didn’t work or she had side effects from them.

“But as soon as the trial started two years ago she was instantly much better. She used to be in such terrible pain, but she has started to dance again now, which she used to love before her diagnosis. Now so many other children can benefit.”
