Glittering premiere planned for new cinema in New Brighton

NEW Brighton’s new cinema will host the UK premiere of a major Hollywood movie – and raise funds for the RNLI.

The Light cinema, at New Brighton’s Marine Point, officially opens on Friday, December 2.

And bosses at the £5.5m eight-screen digital cinema are joining forces with RNLI officials to welcome 500 guests to the UK premiere of New Year’s Eve on Wednesday, December 7.

Guests will be greeted by lifeboat volunteers offering champagne on the RNLI-themed orange carpet.

A fish and chip supper will be served before a short presentation, by Cinema Next directors and the RNLI, and the screening.

Cliff Downing, volunteer lifeboat operations manager at New Brighton Lifeboat Station, said: “Everyone involved with the RNLI in this area is thrilled The Light cinema is supporting our charity.

“Those attending the premiere will not just have a fabulous evening, they will also be helping to save lives at sea by contributing to RNLI funds.”

The cinema’s unveiling should also coincide with the opening of Marine Point’s first restaurants in early December.

The American-style Brooklyn’s, Starbucks and a specialist ice-cream parlour are being fitted out.
