Police appeal for witnesses after armed robbery at Moreton off-licence

DETECTIVES have released CCTV images of two men they want to speak to in connection with an armed robbery in Moreton.

Police were called to Bargain Booze on Pasture Road at around 8.45pm on Sunday, September 11, after two men armed with an iron bar threatened staff and stole a quantity of cigarettes and cash.

No-one was injured but staff were left feeling shaken by the incident.

The offenders, who were wearing dark-coloured clothing and hoods, fled on foot and are believed to have then driven off in a vehicle.

Detective Constable John Molyneux said: “This is an unpleasant attack which caused staff great upset.

“Merseyside Police takes incidents of this nature extremely seriously and we are committed to catching the offenders.

“I would ask members of the public to take particular note of the distinctive detail on the clothing of the men in the CCTV and contact us if they recognise them, or have any information about their whereabouts so we can eliminate them from our enquiries.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Birkenhead CID on 777 2265 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
