Birkenhead stabbing death: Teenager due in court on murder charge

A YOUTH was today due in court charged with the murder of a teenager in Wirral.

Darren Brewster, 17, from Wallasey, was stabbed to death in a flat in Corporation Road, Birkenhead, just before midnight on Thursday.

Paramedics were called to the block, owned by Wirral Partnership Homes, and pronounced Darren dead at the scene.

He had been stabbed several times.

A post-mortem examination yesterday confirmed the teenager died as a result of the stab wounds he received.

Police last night confirmed a 17-year-old, arrested on suspicion of murder, has been charged with murdering Darren.

A spokesman said the 17-year-old accused was due to appear before Wirral Magistrates Court today.

The death of Darren has stunned friends who have used social networking sites to pay tributes to the teenager.

They included a “R.I.P Darren Brewster” page set up by friends on Facebook. One of around 500 mourners signing up to the site called Rhian posted: “Rest in peace matey, this isn’t a goodbye, it’s a see you soon”.
