Two men appear in court accused of rioting in Birkenhead

TWO men appeared in court accused of taking part in the wave of rioting that broke out across Merseyside.
Mark Anthony Burns, 26, Cathcart Street, Birkenhead, and Lee Christopher Shaw, 40, of Whetstone Lane, Birkenhead, both faced the offence of violent disorder at Liverpool Magistrates Court last Thursday.
It was alleged, in two separate hearings, that they had participated in the unlawful violence that erupted on the Woodlands estate on August 9.
Their cases were sent to Liverpool Crown Court where they will be heard on September 8.
