STRANGE powder which sparked a two-hour alert turned out to be cat litter.
Police were called to Liscard Village on Sunday afternoon after reports a man had discarded the green substance near Barclays bank.
The area was sealed off while tests were carried out on the powder by Merseyside fire service.
A spokesman for Merseyside Police said: "It turned out to be extremely minor. A member of the public saw a male with these crystals or powder and they thought it looked suspicious.
"Tests showed it was an absorbent material, probably some sort of cat litter."
