FORMER staff and pupils of Liscard Primary are being invited to take a trip down memory lane as the school building turns 100.
The Withens Lane school is marking the special birthday next month with a series of celebrations including a centenary summer fair and an open evening.
Each year group has been given a different theme from across the decades to research and pupils will be dressing up to represent different years in the building’s history.
The celebrations kicked off this week with an all-school walk to the promenade to coincide with Oxfam Water Week.
The building was Wallasey Grammar for Boys and Withensfield Middle School before becoming Liscard Primary.
With 650 pupils, it is one of Wirral’s biggest primary schools and was recently graded as “Outstanding” by Ofsted inspectors.
Headteacher Rose Littler said: “We’re really looking forward to celebrating the school building’s 100th year anniversary and the children have been researching what it was like in different decades.
“They’re really keen to find out how it links to them but they can’t imagine what it was like to have things like the cane in school!”
The centenary summer fair will take place on Saturday, July 16 and will feature music performances and a wide range of stalls.
The open evening takes place on July 19 from 5.30 to 7.30pm.
All former pupils and staff are welcome to visit on the night and take a tour of the building.
