Cllr Alan Jennings tried the safety and work wear when he opened the New Brighton Lifeboat Station’s campaign at Wallasey Yacht Club.
He said: “I really appreciate the equipment, it’s very comfortable and ideal for the conditions it is designed for, however I don’t think it is very practical for my normal mayoral duties.”
The audience made a donation of £57 in appreciation for the mayor’s impromptu sartorial activity.
During the evening, which was well attended by current and prospective fundraisers and donors a series of cheques were presented to kick-start the training and equipment campaign.
