Wirral man arrested following siege in Wallasey flat

ARMED police were called to a Merseyside street following reports of a siege.

Police surrounded the first-floor flat in Birch Grove, Wallasey, at 5pm yesterday. They were on the scene for two hours before a man in his 40s was arrested on suspicion of making threats to kill.

Officers also seized a number of knives.

A woman was also in the flat.

Ian Kenyon, 38, who owns Retro Trax, below the flat, said: “I’m not surprised. They are always screaming at each other. As I walked home, I saw police cars racing to the shop.”
