A TEENAGER who beat a girl with a metal pole was sent to a young offenders’ institution for 15 weeks.
John Medway, 18, launched the vicious attack on the 16-year-old, after she visited him at his Ashville Road home in Wallasey.
Liverpool Crown Court heard he repeatedly punched her and then hit her with the metal pole which she had used to smash a window to raise the alarm.
Locking him up, Judge Graham Morrow, QC, told Medway: “You used a weapon, you kicked and bit your victim.
“It was a sustained attack.”
Medway pleaded guilty to a charge of common assault on the day his trial was expected to begin.
David Watson, defending, said that Medway had experienced an unsettled childhood, living in “various institutions”.
He added: “This was a serious example of domestic violence.”
