NEW Brighton’s very own bards are celebrating their second anniversary.
The Bards of New Brighton poets' group held its 24th consecutive monthly open-mic session this week.
The Bards are currently working on an anthology of poems inspired by places in Wirral.
The group meets in the folk music room of The Magazine pub in New Brighton on the second Monday of every month.
Poets are encouraged to read or perform their work out loud.
Bards MC Steve Regan said: “As you'd expect at a New Brighton gathering, the poems have a lot of passion and quite a bit of eccentricity. There is also a fair bit of soul, philosophy and humour in our readings.
“We are a friendly, supportive group for local writers and we usually have one or two musicians performing as well.
