Driver injured as car ploughs into tree in Wallasey
A 43-YEAR-OLD man escaped with multiple injuries after his car ploughed into a tree in Wallasey last Friday morning.
He was driving his red Peugeot 406 along Seabank Road, near the junction with Manor Road, when he left the carriageway and crashed into a tree.
An ambulance responding to another emergency was on the road at the time and two fire crews were called.
The roof of the car had to be cut off to rescue the driver who was then taken to Arrowe Park Hospital with serious injuries.
He is said to be in a stable condition.
Wally Simpson, of Wallasey, said: “I heard a really loud bang even though I was a few roads away.
“On my way home I drove past the car and it was totally embedded in the tree. It looked horrific.
“I’m surprised the driver survived - he is very lucky.”
Anyone who saw the collision should call 777 5771 or Crimestoppers in confidence on 0800 555 111.
