Pupils at Wallasey’s St Mary’s College given masterclass in dance

PUPILS at St Mary’s College were given a masterclass in performance last week from one of the country’s leading dance companies.

Ludus Dance spent two days at the Wallasey Village school working with first year pupils in a series of workshops, culminating in a performance of the company’s new show, “id:me”.

The show and its supporting workshops explore the notion of community and identity, linking in with themes running through the curriculum for Year Seven students.

Pupils learned how to devise dance and explored the themes of the show.

Laura Yates, community dance co-ordinator at the school, said: “Ludus engaged, challenged and inspired the whole of Year Seven across the two days.

“The performance itself, which was packed with technical and creative content, had 240 staff and pupils gripped.”
