A ROBBER armed with a knife terrorised staff at an off-licence in Wallasey Village on Friday night.
The man who was armed with a kitchen knife targeted The Local at around 8.30pm.
He is described as “of gaunt appearance” and he walked with a limp.
A spokesman for First Quench, owners of The Local, said: “Fortunately, no one was harmed during the incident, although we can confirm cash was stolen.”
Staff members involved, who were left shaken by the ordeal, will be offered counselling, the company said.
The robber has been described as being around 30-years-old, white, 5ft 10in tall, of skinny build and with a gaunt appearance.
He was wearing dark clothing on the night in question and is said to walk with a limp.
After taking cash from the off-licence, he left on foot along Wallasey Village and into Village Way, opposite St Mary’s College.
The spokesman for First Quench added: “Staff and customer safety and security is our top priority and we have a number of security equipment devices in place in every store to help and prevent crime.
“CCTV footage of the incident has been made available to the police.
“A number of increased security recommendations will be implemented at the store.”
Merseyside Police crime scene investigators attended shortly after the incident and are currently examining images taken on the night.
The police are also appealing for witnesses to the robbery and for any other related information to call 0151 777 2246 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
