A MORETON actress has secured her dream role on the children’s television show Hi-5, which aired for the first time on Monday.
Emma Nowell, 25, embarked on her professional acting career after leaving Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts, by joining the UK tour and West End production of Blood Brothers.
She has also been a backing singer for several artists including Westlife, appearing on Top of the Pops and the Eurovision Song Contest as well as starring in the BAFTA nominated film ‘Rollin with the Nines’ and ‘Rise of the Footsoldier’.
This year, however, she has concentrated her attention on television after joining the Hi-5 team.
The series, which launched in Australia 11 years ago, is now screened in 118 countries with a global audience reach of over five million people.
The British version, which hopes to follow this success, is aimed at a wide range of young children and focuses on learning through play, music and dance.
The former St Mary’s College student will now be known by youngsters as the host of Word Play and will be joined on the show by her puppet friend Chatterbox as she focuses on letters and spelling.
Emma said: “This is my dream job - I’m performing and teaching children at the same time.
“I have always loved teaching children and have run Make Believe Theatre School in Greasby for two years, which I will continue to do.”
