Mersey ferry passengers can get close to the QE2

PASSENGERS on board Mersey ferries can get up close to the QE2 when she visits Liverpool for the last time on Friday.

The company has arranged for all three ferry boats to be involved during the visit, with extra services throughout the day and into the evening.

Services, calling at all three terminals, will run from noon-3.30pm and sail as close and as safely as possible to the luxury liner.

A blue badge guide will be giving live commentary during these trips, which will cost £5.30 for adults and £2.95 for children.

The Royal Daffodil will also host pre-bookable 45-minute viewing cruises from Seacombe only at 11am, noon, 1pm, 2pm and 3pm. Numbers will be limited. Tickets are £10 for adults and £5 for children. The 11am service will sail out to the mouth of the river to meet the QE2 as she arrives in the Mersey.

From 4.15pm through until 8.05pm, direct services will operate between Pier Head, Seacombe and Woodside.

Departures between 4.15pm and 5.05pm will be every 20 minutes and between 5.05pm and 8.05pm services will be every 10 minutes, all with blue badge guide commentary. Prices for the direct services are £2.30 return for adults and £1.70 for children.

All three vessels will take to the water from 8.30pm through to 10.30am for a sell-out farewell cruise.
